In 'The dance of the wild women: The Maenads’ Payne invites us to contemplate how little we humans have actually changed over the millennia by evoking the emotions, movement and sounds of an ancient Greek festival of drink, dance & ecstasy celebrating Dionysus: God of wine.
Of Love, Desire and the Gods is an exhibition of paintings, drawings and prints by Richard Payne.
After years of reflection and work Payne draws on his classical training, sacred geometry and a modernist vocabulary to offer us an excitingly fresh and uniquely uplifting art with intellect, emotion and aesthetic order.
Using energy, colour, movement and his gift for narrative Payne sheds fresh light on universal beauty through mythology, revitalizing the messages for our modern times. This advice from our ancient selves reminds us of our humanity, our place in the cosmos and if we listen, may even save us from ourselves.
Gavin Fry will open the exhibition and give an address.
